About the AIA Module
The Advanced Imaging and Analysis (AIA) Core Module of the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology is available 24/7 to our vision research faculty and staff. Eligible labs are assigned a key to access the room.
A Resource for Image Analysis and Graphics
Suling Wang, the AIA technician, is a professional graphic designer and illustrator. Suling is available 3 days a week to support in image analysis tasks, instruct in use of hardware or software, provide graphic design assistance or create original illustrations. Please email Suling to discuss your needs.
Computers available for use:
GIM1: Mac Pro (Late 2013): 3.7 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon E5, OS 11.5.2
GIM2: Dell Precision 5820, Windows 10, 64 bit
GIM4: Dell Precision T3610, Windows 10, 64 bit
Other hardware:
Printers: Color LaserJet M551
Scanners: Canon CanoScan 8800F for slide and transparency scans.
Hardware to sign-out: a Macbook with Snow Leopard 10.6 and Windows XP Pro using BootCamp, 1 Epson LCD projector, 1 Panasonic LCD projectors, and a Canon Powershot Digital Elph camera.
Specialized software:
Specialized software such as Imaris 10.2, Amira 2019 and Metamorph image analysis software, Matlab and custom-built Matlab applications – ObjectFinder and VolumeCut are available for use in the AIA module. Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite software are also available for use.
