1. Introduction to the subcortical visual system and general mechanisms that drive neural circuit formation
2. Understanding the mechanisms that drive how specific subtypes of retinal projection neurons innervated subcortical brain regions
3. Provide a new understanding for thalamic circuitry and what this may mean for visual processing
