2:00 – 3:00 PM — Department Research Day & Caygill Lecture Speaker: Updates on Age-Related Macular Degeneration:  The Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) and AREDS2″, Emily Chew, MD (Host(s): Aparna Lakkaraju, PhD & Matilda Chan, MD, PHD)

  • Will recognize the indications and the secondary prevention of AMD with the AREDS2 supplements
  • Understand the importance of the Mediterranean diet in the progression to late AMD and the enlargement of geographic atrophy
  • Be cognizant of the potential of artificial intelligence/machine learning/deep learning in transforming future medical care and the conduct of clinical trials in AMD.
